That afternoon, we tried to set up a reservation for paragliding. Unfortunately, there was too much wind and clouds for the sky-high activity. To quote the man on the phone, “You might as well be inside a cloud.” Instead we went to a nearby aquarium. Their main attraction was a group of eleven seals, which they claimed we could feed. Unfortunately, the seals did not want to eat. Also, many were missing because the males were not allowed near the pups—but at least there were pups. They were cute and loud, fighting for space and calling for food. Sometimes the bigger seals would scare the babies—even if the little ones were nursing. There were also two octopi, and Mom was swept away by them. They were blue and pink and not very active, but just watching them breathe was exciting. They must have had thousands of suckers. The starfish were also incredible, because they were much larger than ours usually are. Maybe 8 inches across, they ranged from soft and fuzzy to almost indiscernible from the rocks they clung to. We also saw a little shark, many fish including flounders, and an eel that we lamented was incredibly ugly.
After the aquarium, we stepped outside onto the beach (literally) and found a volleyball court. The wind made volleyball a challenge, though, and we decided it was the perfect day for our kite. Our kite is about 10 feet across and thus very powerful. We played with it for a while, and I made a sand castle. When we finally went in, we decided it was late enough to just head to our campsite and watch a movie before bed.
